Imran praises Trudeau for condemning Islamophobia

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday welcomed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's apparent condemnation of Islamophobia and his plan to appoint a special representative to deal with this contemporary crisis.

"I welcome Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's unequivocal condemnation of Islamophobia and his plans to appoint a special representative to deal with this contemporary crisis," the prime minister wrote in a message on his Twitter account.

Prime Minister Imran said that his (Justin Trudeau) call for timely action follows what he had argued for a long time. "Let us join hands to end this menace," he wrote. He uploaded a few pictures and wrote, "Skardu and our girls playing ice hockey at GB at night. With an international airport now in Skardu, the area will become a world winter sports venue inshallah.

The prime minister also lauded a petroleum company for responding to his call and agreeing to give 50 per cent pay hike to its employees. "I'm urging other companies to follow this example," he said.

In another tweet, he said, "I commend an airline for answering its call and announcing a pay hike of 44 per cent for low-paid employees and 15-25 per cent for other employees. I am Pakistan's top 100." I urge the corporations, which made a record profit of Rs 950 billion last year, to also increase the wages of their employees.

“I appreciate the chairman of a private TV channel for answering my call and increasing the salary of the employees. I am appealing to other companies which have made record profits in the last one year, to also increase the salary of their employees,” he tweeted separately.
