No decision yet on lockdown in Sindh: Saeed Ghani

 


Karachi: In Sindh, in spite of an increase in COVID-19 cases in Karachi, Sindh Information Minister Saeed Gani said on Saturday that no decision has been taken so far on applying lockout in the province.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Ghani said the pressure on hospitals was "not as bad" as was seen during previous waves of the pandemic.

He said the provincial government had "upgraded" hospitals and vaccinated people.

The Sindh government has banned indoor dining in Karachi and Hyderabad.

In a revised notification issued by the Home Department on Friday, it has been said that all indoor meetings, programs and food in Karachi and Hyderabad have been restricted till February 15.

However, external events are allowed with maximum 300 perfectly vaccination guests.

Pakistan has over 6,500 COVID-19 infections per day

According to official figures, more than 1,000 patients infected with Coronaire have been transferred to Critical Care in Pakistan, because the condition of Covid deteriorates due to the Omicron version.

Data from the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) shows that after 94 worsened in the last 24 hours, the number of patients in critical care rose to 1,055 from 961 a day earlier.

According to the data, with 6,540 infections nationwide after 58,902 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, the positivity ratio stood at 11.10%, down from 12.93% a day earlier.
