KARACHI: To defuse the situation arising in the wake of Muttahida Qaumi movement protest at Pakistan CM House, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visited the house of deceased MQM-P worker late on Thursday night and offered condolences to his family members. . ,
Apart from this, he also met MQM MPA Sadaqat Hussain, whose health he was beaten up by policemen outside the CM House to inquire about his health. The CM was accompanied by Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Karachi Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab and CM's Special Assistant Waqar Mehdi.
Firstly, he met the family members of MQM activist Aslam Khan and offered his condolences. Shah offered the family to launch a high-level probe. Aslam Khan's brother thanked the CM for meeting him and said that he would discuss the matter with the family.
Later, the CM also visited MQM MPA Sadaqat Hussain's residence in Orangi Town and met his father and inquired about his health and prayed for his speedy recovery. CM said, "You are my brother, I have a lot of respect for you and feel sad over the incident at CM House."
Shah said that the PSL teams were about to leave the hotel for the stadium when they staged a sit-in at the CM House. “The timing was crucial as the MQM friends themselves decided to change the course of their protest, which led to the situation,” he said, adding that such incidents should not have happened.
CM told MQM MPA that he has constituted an inquiry committee to probe the matter so that action can be taken accordingly. Meanwhile, the Sindh CM announced financial assistance for the families of 12 fishermen who drowned when boats capsized near KT Bunder.
On 22 January, three boats with 46 fishermen on board capsized after being hit by strong winds near Keti Bunder. The district administration had rescued 34 fishermen with the help of Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Maritime Security Agency. The chief minister announced an assistance of Rs one lakh for each fisherman killed in the incident and directed the relief commissioner to assist the affected families.
