Virat Kohli should not have married so soon: Shoaib Akhtar

Lahore: Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has said that he wanted former India captain Virat Kohli to tie the knot by creating history by scoring 120 centuries.

Shoaib Akhtar made these remarks while talking about the performance pressure on Virat Kohli as he recently stepped down as the captain of the Indian Test cricket team.

In a video clip shared by ANI on his official Twitter handle, Shoaib Akhtar said, "If I were in India and had such opportunities, I would not have got married. I would never escalate my responsibilities."

He said that he would focus on his cricket and get married after getting 400 wickets.

Shoaib Akhtar said, "Anyway, it was his personal decision."

Responding to a question about the tussle between Kohli and the BCCI, Shoaib Akhtar said that he did not know much about the matter, adding, "What was meant to be happened has happened."

"He has a bat in his hand and he has a chance," he said, adding that he did not want Kohli to be dropped for either the shorter or longer formats of cricket.

Kohli was under pressure to perform, he said and advised the Indian player to focus on his cricket.
