Helen Mirren was honored with the SAG Life Achievement Award on Sunday
Helen Mirren was presented with the SAG Life Achievement Award by actresses Cate Winslet and Cate Blanchett from SAG-AFTRA at the Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony on Sunday.
As The Associated Press reports, Mirren, 76, said in her acceptance speech, "Honestly, any accomplishment I've achieved is a result of my mantra which is basically: Be on time and don't be an asshole. "
"Thank you, thank you, s-a-g thank you so much for that. I hate to say the word 'sag' at my age."
The decision to select Mirren as the recipient of the Screen Actors Guild's 57th Life Achievement Award was first announced in November 2021.
The English stage and screen actor has over 50 years to his credit and has played everything from a gangster's girlfriend in The Long Good Friday to Queen Elizabeth II in The Queen.
“I am honored to be selected to receive the SAG Life Achievement Award. Since I was a young actor, I have always been inspired and learned from American screen acting, so this award is especially meaningful to me,” said Mirren. said in a statement at the time.
This latest honor adds to Mirren's strong collection of awards, including an Oscar, a Tony, and multiple SAG, Emmy, and BAFTA awards.
With 13 SAG Award nominations and five wins, Mirren is also a SAG Life Achievement recipient, the union said.
