Lakers: LeBron James Could Return Tonight Against the Knicks

The Lakers will take on the Knicks tonight at the Crypto.com Arena. Los Angeles is looking to get back into the winning column after a really tough loss to the Clippers on Thursday night, when Anthony Davis' final shot didn't go down.

It's been a tough part of the game for the Lakers, but even more so since LeBron James has been dropped from the lineup. James has been sitting outside since January 27 with knee pain and some swelling. To date, there were no signs of progress.

But the latest report from ESPN's Dave McManin is that LBJ might actually be playing tonight. He will go through a pregame warmup with the Lakers before the team decides whether he can play without extending his knee.

Bringing James back into the lineup would be huge, albeit limited. In the five matches that Brawn has missed in the past two weeks, the Lakers lead 1-4. They are sorely missing their offensive output and ability to help them fill the lane with Eddie.

In the month of January alone, James was playing on another planet. The 37-year-old averaged 30.3 points per game and 8.1 rebounds with 5.5 assists. He helped fill the gap when Davis suffered a knee injury, and the pair have played just one game together since his return.
