Michael Keaton delivers speech dedicating SAG Award to his late nephew

Michael Keaton became emotional when he spoke about the devastating death of his nephew while dedicating his SAG Award to him.

Winning the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series for his performance in Dopesic, Keaton became emotional as he dedicated his win to his nephew, who died of an accidental heroin overdose.

"Looking at the theme, this is for my nephew, Michael, and my sister, Pam," said the 70-year-old actor. "I lost Michael ... and it hurts. To my sister Pam, thank you."

Dopesic deals with the problem of opioid addiction, an issue that is personal to Keaton.

"I have a job where I can be part of a production that can really lead to thought, conversation, real change," Keaton added in his acceptance speech.

The actor said, "Who gets that job? Seriously? How lucky am I to be able to be good at what I do as I learn to be an actor? There's a huge inequality in the world."

"At DoPesic, when you talk about addiction, the way to fix the problem is to admit that you have a problem. Not our country. The whole world. Economically, racially, socially, Economically. There's huge inequality in the world. There just is. There's fair, and there's unfair. There's not much room in between," Keaton said.
