Queen Elizabeth II cuts a platinum jubilee cake while meeting with volunteer groups on the eve of the 70th anniversary of her reign.
Holding a walking stick, the 95-year-old monarch hosted a reception for volunteer groups, pensioners and fellow members of the local Women's Institute (WI) group ahead of her accession day.
The Queen looked beautiful in a light blue dress with white brocade and an iced Victoria sponge cut as decoration of the Platinum Jubilee logo at the reception with her black handbag.
The Sandringham House event was the Queen's largest personal public engagement since a reception at Windsor Castle in October.
Sandringham Vice President WI Yvonne Brown said the Queen, who used to laugh and joke with guests, was in "dazzling" form on Saturday.
"Seventy years on the throne shows that the Queen has been a moving example to everyone in all walks of life," said Ms. Brown.
“She has been a steady, kind and stubborn, everything that makes a perfect human being, and she has a great strength of character and has overcome many things.”

During the reception, the Queen met Angela Wood, then 19, when she helped create the dish known as Coronation Chicken—a mixture of cold-cooked chicken, mayonnaise, curry powder, and apricots.
The recipe, originally known as Paulette Reine Elisabeth - Chicken Queen Elizabeth, was developed to mark the coronation in 1953, a year after her reign.
The emperor commented that the recipe probably evolved in the intervening years, adding: "It may have changed because we did some things quite differently in those days."
Sean Mason created a modern take on the dish for Saturday's reception with Coronation Chicken Tartlets, which he presented to the Queen and Mrs. Wood.
