Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has been named in the Blues Club World Cup squad despite missing the semi-final against Al Hilal after testing positive with Covid-19.
The head coach tested positive for COVID-19 before Chelsea face Plymouth Argyle in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
However, Chelsea are optimistic that he will travel and join their squad as they have registered him, FIFA has confirmed.
Speaking after Chelsea's clash against League One Plymouth, Arno Michels (Tuchel's assistant) gave an update on the German.
He added: "First of all, I don't know exactly what the situation is with Thomas when he comes back. He has to follow government rules and is in self-isolation, so we are looking forward to the next days.
"We kept in touch with him (Thomas Tuchel) throughout the game. He was involved in the preparation and everything was clear about what we wanted to do. We kept in touch the whole time."
Absolute Chelsea revealed Tuchel could fly to Abu Dhabi on Thursday if he returns a negative test, complying with government COVID regulations.
The German will crash out of the Club World Cup semi-finals on Wednesday no matter what, but may be ready to go out for the final match.
However, Chelsea will play on Saturday. A win in the semi-finals sees a place in the final at 16:30 (UK), while a loss sees the Blues play in a third-place match at 13:00 (UK).
It is believed that Tuchel will be present for the weekend clash no matter what, once he is registered in the squad.
