Berlin's State Opera said on Thursday that legendary conductor and pianist Daniel Barenboim, 79, has canceled a series of concerts for the second time in just two months due to health reasons.

Argentine-born Barenboim has been acclaimed for an illustrious career that saw him begin performing internationally as a pianist at the age of 10, then become a principal conductor.

He earned further fame when he co-created a foundation and orchestra to promote collaboration between young musicians.

Since 1992 he has been the general music director at Stadtspar Unter den Linden in Berlin.

"Daniel Barenboim suffers from circulatory problems and is undergoing treatment," a brief statement said.

"He is currently taking rest as a precaution, doctors have advised him to cancel his concerts till April 22."
