Johnny Depp becomes top trend on Twitter as he testifies against Amber Heard

Thousands tweeted in support of Hollywood star Johnny Depp on Wednesday as he testified in a defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard.

The hashtag #JusticeForJohnnyDepp became a worldwide Twitter trend after details of his testimony surfaced online.

She said on Wednesday that she was the one who turned violent in their relationship and that her false allegations cost her "no less than everything."

In the second day at the witness stand in a Virginia courtroom, Depp said the couple had frequent arguments that included "degrading the name" and "threatening" Heard.

"It sounded like pure hatred to me," Depp said. "If I stayed to argue, eventually, I was sure it would turn into violence, and many times it did."

"The Pirates of the Caribbean" star, 58, is suing 35-year-old Heard for $50 million after he accused her of abuse.
