Johnny Depp is suing Heard for $50 million for a 2018 Washington Post op-ed he wrote about his experience with domestic abuse. Heard published the piece nearly two years after he alleged that the actor suffered an injury to his face after throwing a phone at his Los Angeles home. Depp denied the allegation and was not charged with any crime.
