Prince Charles is believed to have been 'nervous' and 'conscious' about how the public would see Camilla
Prince Charles was reportedly 'nervous' and 'conscious' how the public would view Camilla, now Duchess of Cornwall, when the pair first went official with their otherwise taboo romance.
According to The Daily Star, body language expert Darren Stanton studied the behavior of Prince Charles and Camilla over the years the couple agreed to see 17 years of marital bliss on April 9.
Citing his analysis, Stanton claimed that in the early years after eventually going public with their romance, Prince Charles and Camille almost 'never' experimented in public displays of affection, and despite this, there was no evidence of Charles' behavior. There was a 'notable difference' between with Diana.
Stanton said: "When pictured with Camilla, Charles is completely relaxed and completely in tune with her non-verbal communication ... However, for a long time Charles was aware that the public was looking at Camilla. How will you get it?"
"Charles used to show signs of nervousness during his early public engagements with the two of them ... putting his hand inside his jacket or playing with his cufflinks - gestures we don't see from him today," he said.
Stanton also believes that Charles 'smiles' at the beginning of his romance with Camilla were "arguably not even real in the beginning and were used to hide his anxiety and his true feelings."
Smile is one of the most fake emotions we can adopt and is a clear indication of feeling uncomfortable in a certain situation," he said.
Prince Charles and Camilla had a long love affair, even as he married Princess Diana. After decades of romance and Diana's death, the couple finally tied the knot in 2005.
