Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Invictus Games trip halted after UK condemnation
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been warned of regret after grandfather Prince Philip opted out of Thanksgiving.
Daily Mirror royal editor Russell Myers said on the pod Save the Queen: "I think for sure Harry will regret not being there [Philip's memorial service].
He said: "I know someone in the Armed Forces who spoke quite eloquently after the service and knew Harry, said he thought he would regret it too.
“He is going to attend the Invictus Games in The Hague, just in less than an hour – flying from here in the Netherlands in a couple of weeks.
"It seems like an absolutely bizarre decision."
However, the Sussexes are thrilled to travel to the Netherlands for the Invictus Games. Harry refused to move to the UK for 'security' reasons, saying he did not feel safe bringing his wife and children Archie and Lily to the country.
Ken Wharf, a former royal security official, gave his two cents about Harry's reasoning: "I am astonished as to why Harry thinks he will be safer in the Netherlands than in the UK.
"He would travel with his brother or father to his grandfather's memorial service and receive protection from the weather.
"It's not like he'll be walking around on a bike in Westminster Abbey.
"The risk of going to Holland to support a charity with a military link is greater than coming to London last week."
