French screen legend Jean-Louis Trintignant passes away


Paris: France lost a screen legend on Friday - actor Jean-Louis Trintignant, who died at the age of 91, was hailed as "an amazing artistic genius" by President Emmanuel Macron.

Among the legends that emerged during the New Wave of French cinema in the 1960s, Trintignant's career was one of the most durable, still making phenomenal films in his eighties.

His wife said in a statement that when he passed away, he was surrounded by his family in the Guard region of southern France. No cause of death was given.
