Harry Potter's Hagrid Robbie Coltrane withdraws from London's Comic Con due to ill health


In 2019, Robbie Coltrane was seen using a wheelchair as he awaits his knee surgery amid his ongoing battle with osteoarthritis.

 The Harry Potter actor best known for his role as Hagrid, Robbie Coltrane left fans disappointed as the actor won't be able to attend July Comic-Con due to his continuing ill health.

The 72-year-old Harry Potter star was supposed to meet fans and pose for pictures at an event in London, but has now canceled his appearance.

In 2019, Robbie was seen using a wheelchair as he awaits his knee surgery amid an ongoing battle with osteoarthritis, when doctors told him to lose weight or face a life of immobility .

Event organizers emailed fans who pre-paid for autographs and photos with the Cracker actor to share a statement from their agent.

The statement read: 'It is with deep regret that Robbie Coltrane has had to withdraw from July Comic-Con due to his continuing ill health.

'He is very sorry to disappoint his fans and supporters and looks forward to making an appearance at another Showmasters event when his health allows.'

The July 9 convention is left to welcome 100,000 movie fans in the presence of celebrity guests David Harbor (Stranger Things) Andy Serkins (Lord of the Rings) and Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future).

The organizers continued: 'Obviously, we are incredibly disappointed that Robbie is not able to attend and are deeply saddened to hear of his poor health.
