Hollywood star Johnny Depp has been awarded $10 million in compensation and $5 million in punitive damages for winning a defamation suit against his ex-wife Amber Heard.

A jury in Fairfax, Virginia has ruled in favor of the Pirates of the Caribbean Star, after seven weeks of blatant testimony in the $100 million Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard defamation trial.

The unanimous decision was delivered after three days of deliberation, bringing an end to a seven-week trial that saw emotional testimony recounting Depp and Heard's turbulent relationship and its aftermath.

Johnny Depp released a statement minutes after the verdict was read out in a $50 million defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard.

"The jury gave me my life back," he later added. "Truth never perishes."

Taking to Instagram, the Aquaman actress wrote: "The despair I feel today is beyond words. I grieve that the mountain of evidence was still not enough to withstand my ex-husband's boundless power, influence, and sway.

Judge Penny Azcarte brought the jury at 3 p.m. To announce the verdict at the Fairfax County Courthouse in Fairfax, Virginia where the trial has been going on for seven weeks.
