Johnny Depp was ordered to pay $2 million to his ex-wife Amber Heard

Johnny Depp was ordered to pay $2 million to his ex-wife Amber Heard after the two parties failed to reach a last-minute settlement in Friday's blockbuster defamation lawsuit.
Depp owed Heard a hefty sum because the Aquaman actor responded to him and one of his attorneys, Adam Waldman, after he termed her allegations of abuse as a hoax.
The jury in the case awarded him $10 million in compensatory damages as well as an additional $5 million in punitive damages in favor of the Pirates of the Caribbean Star.
Depp sued Heard for $50 million, while his damages of $15 million were reduced to $10.35 under state law.
Meanwhile, Hurd issued a statement following recent developments as he announced he would appeal the decision.
“As was said at yesterday's Congress; hearing, if you are innocent you do not apologize,” she said in a statement to The Post Friday.
"And, if you know you are right, you do not decline to appeal," the statement said.
