A lawyer considers Johnny Depp's options to claim settlement from Amber Heard
There will be no new damages to Johnny Depp, even if Amber Heard continues to claim that she cannot pay the damages.
An attorney discussed Depp's options for claiming a settlement during a conversation with Hollywood Life.
Attorney Raeford Dalton Palmer told the outlet, "Johnny has a judgment saying that he owes her. He can collect against her assets and income for decades. But smart people with money know that assets are owed." How to shelter?
"She may try to use bankruptcy to slow down payments, but it's not a cure," he said.
The author of I Just Want This Done continued, "An appeal can put a stay on the execution of the verdict (his team can get a court order delaying the decision pending funding of the appeal)."
“In that case, he must post a bond to secure the judgment amount. But repeating and re-publishing defamatory statements is not carte blanche.
“However, this is a calculated risk – theoretically, all potential losses have been done and if people believe Depp, they will not suffer new losses,” he said.
