Meghan Markle failed to inspire Americans, her popularity in US plummeted: Report

Meghan Markle doesn't seem to get the desired outcome of her decision to move to America after leaving her royal job with husband Prince Harry.

Meghan's popularity in her home country of the United States is also declining at an alarming rate, an expert has claimed.

Neil Gardiner, a Washington-based foreign policy expert and royal family enthusiast, told Express.co.uk: “Meghan and Harry's popularity in America has declined significantly over the year, and will continue to decline. Meghan's image as America It's falling in Britain too."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex relinquished their roles as working members of the royal family when they moved their family to Canada, and then months later, moved to California in the US.

But since then, the couple's comments towards the monarchy have come under a microscope - most notably during a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021.

A week after the tell-all interview, an Economist poll by YouGov of 1,500 American adults found Meghan Markle's net favorability was just +15 — down from +28 a year earlier, while her negative rating rose ten points to 33 percent. Went.

Less than half (48 percent) had a "favourable or somewhat favorable" view of Meghan, with a third (33 percent) having a "very or somewhat unfavorable" view of her.

But a YouGov survey of 1,000 US adults from May 18-21, 2022 found that this had dropped even further, with only 45 percent now having a "favourable or somewhat favorable" view of the Duchess of Sussex. Less than half (46 percent) had a "very or somewhat unfavorable" view of him.
