Netflix show 'Umbrella Academy' returns with season three

Based on comic books by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bae, the show has won over fans with their respective family conflicts, catchy tunes, and surrealistic elements.


The intertwined siblings of "The Umbrella Academy" return for more superhero antics this week, along with a new universal threat and some new family rivalries.

Season three of the hit Netflix show marks the debut of the slicker Sparrow Academy, as well as the transition of character Vanya Hargreaves into Victor Hargreaves, which chronicles the personal life of actor Elliot Page.

Showrunner Steve Blackman said he teamed up with Page on a story after the 35-year-old Oscar nominee, formerly known as Ellen Page, said in late 2020 she was transgender and changed her maiden name had changed.

"Elliot called me after the script was done and said he was making changes and I obviously wanted to be very supportive. Somebody ... didn't make me write it in the story, but I thought It's the right thing to do." Blackman told Reuters.

Season two wrapped up with the siblings averting the 1963 apocalypse and finding themselves in another timeline to return to the present and their home occupied by the Sparrow Academy — including the mean version of their dead brother Ben by their father. Adopted siblings.

Previously, Ben, played by actor Justin H. Min, appeared only as a ghost to his brother Klaus.

“It was great though to be able to star with some of the other cast members for the first time, to see them look me in the eye for the first time,” Min said.
