The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Officially Begins with the Trooping the Color Parade on Thursday
The Queen's Platinum Jubilee officially began on Thursday with the Trooping the Color Parade from Buckingham Palace, reported OK! magazine.
The 96-year-old monarch completes 70 years on the throne this month, with the Trooping the Color ceremony paying tribute to the longest-reigning British monarch in history with a military horse parade and a flypast.
According to reports, the parade is being led by the Queen's grandson Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, on behalf of the monarch.
Participating in the parade are William's family, his wife Kate Middleton and children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Along with him is William's stepmother Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
The ceremony also serves as the official birthday celebration for the Queen and the start of the long Jubilee bank holiday in the UK, with Britons lined up in the streets wearing party goods and Union Jack flags.
The Trooping the Color Parade began at Buckingham Palace and is expected to end at the Horseguards Parade at lunchtime, okay! magazine.
