Queen Elizabeth appears on Buckingham Palace balcony as Platinum Jubilee celebrations begin
Queen Elizabeth appears on the balcony of Buckingham Palace as Platinum Jubilee celebrations officially begin today, June 2.
According to the BBC, the 96-year-old monarch was reportedly seen inspecting soldiers returning from the Trooping the Color ceremony earlier in the day.
The Queen was joined on the balcony by her cousin, the Duke of Kent, and was greeted with enthusiastic cheers from the crowds on the streets of London for the Jubilee holiday.
Speculations about the Queen's health were also put to rest as the monarch took to the balcony looking healthy and resplendent in a light powder purple suit for the occasion.
Earlier, it was reported that several arrests had been made just before the Trooping the Color ceremony began.
According to ITV, the Metropolitan Police made several arrests after a certain group crashed and attempted to enter the ceremonial route before the Trooping the Color parade took off.
Members of the group were pulled away from the baths of a marching military band as they paraded along the route near Buckingham Palace early Thursday.
