Queen's 'masterstroke' decision for Camilla praised after Princess Diana failure

Queen Elizabeth II chose a career path for Duchess Camilla, experts say.

Before the Platinum Jubilee ceremony, the monarch announced that Camilla would change the title from Duchess of Cornwall to Queen Consort if Charles became King. The decision came years after it was established that Camilla would be called Princess Consort at that event.

The royal expert told Express.co.uk that he appreciates the 96-year-old's decision for Charles' wife, especially after dealing with the problems that followed Prince Charles and Diana's divorce.

He said the move was a "master stroke" on the part of the Queen.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, the royal commentator said: "I think it was a very good idea to do so."

He added: "And then to do it. It was a masterly stroke."

"Obviously, this hobby has evolved for Camilla.

"I think there are people who see that Camilla has done a great job.

"Plus, she's so supportive of Charles. They have similar friends. They're the same age group, and they have the same sense of humour.

"She looks after her job to support Charles and she does it very well and that's why the Queen has given her a significant amount of respect."
