Actress Amber Heard, who has been found liable for defaming her ex-husband Johnny Depp in a defamation lawsuit, has announced that she is going to appeal the jury's decision.
In a short hearing Friday morning in Judge Penny Ezcart's Fairfax, Va. courtroom, a final decision in the high-profile civil trial that ended June 1 was presented and entered into the docket.
However, Heard's chief attorney, Elaine Breedhoft, sought a briefing schedule and more set up for a proposed appeal for her client.
Ezkart explicitly told Breedhoft that if it wanted to appeal the verdict from a seven-person jury, the lawyer would have to file a motion in court. The judge said Aquaman Star would have to pay an $8.35 million bond with 6% interest per annum for any appeals to proceed formally.
Heard's lawyer, Bradhoft, said he had no money to pay Depp or pay the bond. As well as the possibility of challenging the bond's issue, Heard's defense team has approximately 21 days to file an appeal.
Now, there is speculation that Elon Musk may help the actress appeal the verdict by paying the bond for her.
Amber Heard and Elon Musk are believed to have dated each other between 2016 and 2018.
However, a source has revealed that Musk will not come to support Heard as he has moved on and wants him to start a new life rather than attend another trial.
