Here's how Prince Harry, Meghan Markle became 'financially independent'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently achieved their 'goal' of becoming financially independent, two years after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex vowed to stand on their own feet.

A source close to the Prince of Wales recently revealed that Harry and Meghan "should be congratulated on achieving their goal" as the Sussexes are no longer listed on Prince Charles' accounts.

The couple used more than one method to become financially independent, including global interviews, TV deals, books and Princess Diana's legacy.

The couple signed a million dollar deal with Netflix to create "content that informs but also gives hope."

As The Mirror reports, the deal is said to be worth $112 million, which apparently included a documentary about the "Invictus Games, which Harry founded, and a reality-style show."

The couple also signed a deal with Spotify, worth £18 million, to produce a podcast that promotes "diverse and inspiring voices" under Archwell Audio.

However, Spotify is reportedly eyeing getting its own production for the show and ditching the couple's brand.

Meanwhile, Suits was also reported to be releasing its own podcasts focusing on investigations into slum-dwelling "labels trying to hold women back".

The aforementioned podcast, Archetypes, slated to be unveiled this summer, features Meghan's conversation with historians, experts and women who have been discriminated against.

The outlet reported that in 2020, the Duchess "helped sell a vegan brand of coffee she had invested in, with the help of her billionaire chat show friend Oprah Winfrey."

According to MailOnline, Meghan has also written a children's book, The Bench, which could be worth £500,000.

The Mirror also highlighted Harry's potential earnings as he plans to write "a tell-all memoir", although it is assumed that all proceeds will go to charity.

“Meanwhile, he also served as chief effects officer at Silicon Valley start-up BetterUp, which focuses on coaching people on their mental health to help them perform,” the outlet said. This could bring them around £2million.

In August 1997, Harry inherited approximately £7 million from Princess Diana's inheritance.

He told Oprah: "I brought what my mother left me. And without her, we wouldn't have been able to do this."
