Expert says firm intends to 'keep the peace' with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Rebecca English claimed that the royal family is prepared to give bad publicity in the hope that it will be over in a matter of days.
Ms English said: "A suggestion has been made to me that the palace has actually done this because they don't want Harry and Meghan to kill the bear."
She continued: "I suspect the Palace is prepared to put up with a flurry of bad headlines and television reports on the chin over the next few days, in the hope that after that, the whole issue will quietly go away."
She continued: "I have never, in my more than 20 years of reporting experience, been at a briefing where something has been sweeping under the carpet."
