Ansel Elgort's 'West Side Story' co-star voices sexual assault claims against him

Ansel Elgort is still plagued by sexual harassment claims made against her in 2020, as well as her West Side Story costar being questioned about her in a recent interview.

Actors Rachel Ziegler, Ariana DeBos and Rita Moreno faced off about the allegations in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, during which Ziegler highlighted that the film was made before the allegations surfaced.

"We made a film two and a half years ago, and there's a lot going on in the world since then," said Ziegler, who played Maria in the film.

"A lot has changed both publicly and privately. There has been a lot of awakening," he said.

Elgort was accused in June 2020 by a woman named Gabby, who claimed he assaulted her six years earlier, a year and a half before West Side Story's release in December 2021.

Ziegler commented, "You just hope that the people involved are okay, that they are asked in a respectful manner and that they are given the opportunity to answer for themselves."

Debos in the film, Anita also said, "Nobody really knows what's going on in someone's mind. Only the people who were involved in that situation know what really happened."

Meanwhile, Moreno said, 'I think taking someone's side in this case would have been absolutely horrifying and wrong. It's not for me to make those decisions. ,

As for Elgort himself, he was largely excluded from the film's trailers and attended press tours with the entire cast to avoid direct questions from the interviewers.
