ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday expressed the government's commitment to free the country from terrorism. "We stand firm in our commitment to free Pakistan from all forms of terrorism," he said in a tweet, adding that a terrorist incident in Balochistan's Kech on Thursday claimed the lives of 10 soldiers.
The Prime Minister paid homage to the martyred soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty. “Our brave soldiers continue to lay down their lives to keep us safe from terrorists. I salute the 10 martyr soldiers who foiled a terrorist attack on a check post in Kech.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the "fire raid" by terrorists took place on the intervening night of January 25-26.
“During the exchange of fire, one terrorist was killed and several were injured. "Ten soldiers embraced martyrdom while repulsing the firing of terrorists," the statement said. It added that three terrorists were apprehended in the follow-up evacuation operation, which was still on to hunt down the perpetrators of the incident. "The armed forces are determined to eliminate terrorists from our soil, no matter what the cost," the ISPR said.
