Murri tragedy: Buzdar asks ED to suspend four negligent officers

 


ISLAMABAD: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has asked the Establishment Department (ED) to suspend four officials, including the former Rawalpindi commissioner, in the light of the recommendations of a committee to probe the Murri tragedy. Massive blizzard.

In a letter obtained by The News, the chief minister urged the ED secretary to initiate disciplinary proceedings against these officers under the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020.

The officers designated in communication include former commissioner Gulzar Shah (Grade-21); Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Sajid Kiyani (Grade-20); Muhammad Ali (Grade-19), former Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi; Former Sub-Divisional Police Officer/Assistant Superintendent of Police Muri Ahmed Shah. The letter, written by the Punjab Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD), which is controlled by the chief secretary, said the chief minister has approved the recommendations of the inquiry committee set up on the Murri incident and wants the ED to be requested The services of these officers can be withdrawn and placed under suspension and disciplinary proceedings can be initiated against them.

On 19 January, Buzdar announced that 15 officers had been removed from their posts in line with the recommendations of the Inquiry Committee. He said the committee's report highlighted the negligence on the part of these officers, who failed to discharge their duties. He said, 'I had promised a transparent investigation into the incident and action would be taken against those responsible for the tragedy. I have fulfilled my promise."
