Pakistan Navy inducts Tugril ships, Sea-King helicopters in its fleet

 


ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Tugril, the first of four Type 054-A/P, multi-role frigates and 10 Sea-King helicopters, was held at PN Dockyard, Karachi on Monday.

Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, Chief of the Naval Staff, received the Chief Guest President Dr. Arif Alvi at PN Dockyard. A contingent of the Pakistani Navy presented a guard of honour. The contract for four multi-role warships for the Pakistan Navy was signed between Pakistan and China in June 2018. PNS Tugril was inducted into the PN fleet along with Sea-King helicopters gifted by the State of Qatar.

Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi underlined the induction of Tughril and Sea-King helicopters to enhance PN combat capabilities in defense of Pakistan's territorial integrity and maritime interests. The Navy Chief also spoke about the role of the Pakistan Navy in promoting peace and stability in the region through maritime initiatives. President Alvi appreciated the induction of Tugril and Sea-King helicopters in the PN fleet.

He expressed confidence that the highly capable Pakistan Navy's fleet and its Air Force will continue to promote peace and stability in line with the policy of the Government, while fully protecting our maritime borders.

The President stressed the need for a well-equipped fleet with surface, air and sub-surface platforms to safeguard maritime borders under a challenging security environment. The Chief Guest underlined that Pakistan is a land of peace and urged for security and stability in the region.

Later, Alvi handed over the conventional ship's scrolls and aircraft documents to the Commander Pakistan Fleet. Eligible guests from the Embassies of China, Qatar, Governor Sindh, serving and retired officers of the Tri-Services attended the ceremony.
