Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta has sent a message to the young Blues players ahead of this week's Club World Cup.
Thomas Tuchel's team will take on Al Hilal in the semi-finals on Wednesday and advance to a possible final against Palmeiras on Saturday.
Speaking to the press via Football.London, Azpilicueta has sent a message to Chelsea's young players.
Asked if he emphasized the importance of teh competition to young players, Azpilicueta said: "When we are young we think we have more opportunities but over time you see how difficult it is." Is.
"Sometimes you can win, sometimes you can lose. Of course every competition we enter, we want to win but it is rare and everyone knows how hard it is."
During his first season at Stamford Bridge, the captain continued to express his dismay after losing the Club World Cup final in 2012.
"That defeat was hard to bear," he continued. "Maybe with time you realize how difficult it is to get there. We saw how the Corinthians prepared for the game. Sometimes small details matter and we weren't at our best that day. It hurt a lot."
The 32-year-old will be eager to turn his fortunes in this competition and will do everything he can to lift the trophy to complement his collection in Blue.
He could be out and would like to leave under the best of circumstances, with his contract at the end of the season.
