ISLAMABAD: Planning Minister Asad Umar announced on Tuesday that the government has launched a door-to-door vaccination campaign administering more than 35 million COVID-19 shots as the country grapples with a fifth wave of the virus.

Sharing the data regarding vaccination so far, the minister said that 80 million people have been fully vaccinated, while another 10 million people have received a single dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. He said that 26 lakh people also got booster dose.
Asad Umar said, "During the current fifth wave of Kovid-19, it has been observed that people from areas with high vaccination rates have mild symptoms of the disease."
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Faisal Sultan urged the public to stop being "lazy" and get a booster shot, if they haven't already.

He said that earlier NCOC was asking people to take only booster dose, but now it is again recommending it based on scientific evidence.
SAPM said that the additional dose is being given free of cost, so people should make the most of it.
“The biggest benefit of getting the booster shot will be that we can stay safe from the Omicron variant,” said Dr Sultan, adding that the only way to get rid of the restrictions people have been facing for the past two years is to vaccinate against COVID. is -19.
