Nets' James Harden to return to lineup vs Suns

PHOENIX - James Harden took part in a full-fledged Nets shootaround on Tuesday morning, and will play against the Suns in Phoenix later that night.

He missed the last two games, with a hamstring problem against the Nuggets last Wednesday and a right arm strain at Golden State on Saturday.

“Yeah, he’s feeling less burning, so the swelling has gone down. So the irritation is much better and he feels like he’s doing a good job, so he has potential,” said Nets coach Steve Nash. We have high hopes that he will play."

The injury has been plaguing Harden for several games before he escalated it in practice on Friday. He missed the loss to the Warriors, but practiced on Monday and did everything the Nets did in the shootaround on Tuesday.

"He just hasn't been able to play. We haven't played. But other than that I think he thinks he's ready to play," Nash said. "It's just a matter of seeing how he goes through this checklist with the performance team and is ready to go [Tuesday]."

BSE Global, the parent company of Nets and Barclays Center, announced the resignation of CEO John Abbamandi, effective at the end of July. He will serve until the end of the season, and his successor will be the fourth CEO of Nets owner Joe Tsai's tenure.

"We are grateful for John's leadership and many contributions to our organization," Tsai said. “John has displayed tremendous heart and expertise in guiding BSE Global through the challenges of the pandemic.

Steve Nash: 3-and-D wing Kessler a 'great fit' for Edwards Nets

“During his tenure, the Brooklyn Nets set franchise records for attendance, ticket revenue and sponsorship. We appreciate John's help in ensuring a smooth transition for his successor, and we look forward to joining BSE Global.” Excited about the future."

Long-serving Brett Yourmark resigned as CEO when Tsai took over completely from former owner Mikhail Prokhorov in 2019. Former Turner Sports boss David Levy replaced him, but was only on the job for two months.

Oliver Weisberg – head of Tsai's Blue Pool Capital – served briefly as interim, as well as alternate governor of the Nets (Nets general manager Sean Marks is the other alternate governor). Abbamandi was hired in July 2020 after Barclays Center and the entire league were shut down due to COVID-19.

The Nets have become one of the league's leaders in ticket and sponsorship revenue, and have enjoyed a record number of nationally televised games. Now he would like to replace former Navy fighter pilot Abbamandi with the call sign Brinjal.
