Pep Guardiola Offers Insight into Development Plans for Manchester City Academy Stars in First-Team Setup

Following Liam Delp and James McAtee's performances in the fourth round of the FA Cup against Fulham over the weekend, Pep Guardiola has given Manchester City fans insight into the development plans for the club's brightest young talent.

It's safe to say that Manchester City's pool of emerging young talent has certainly made a mark this season, as the grueling fixture schedule stretches Pep Guardiola's personnel to the limit.

Cole Palmer's scintillating performance against Swindon Town in the third round of the FA Cup was a statement performance that proved just how intimidating his potential really was, as he scored in his third contest of the season.

Speaking after Manchester City's latest FA Cup win over Fulham, club captain Fernandinho spoke about the bright cameos of James McAtee and Liam Delp from the bench over the weekend.

In addition, the likes of Joshua Wilson-Esbrand, Luc Mbete, Romeo Lavia, Finlay Burns and CJ Egan-Riley were introduced against Wycombe Wanderers in the Carabao Cup earlier this season.

Speaking after his side's recent victory in the fourth round of the FA Cup, Pep Guardiola expressed his views on the club's growing young talent, first touching on his plans for Liam Delp for the second half of the season.

"The plan, he (Liam Delap) will guide me. The plan depends on his behavior and his performance. Now, he is someone who trains with us everyday."

Pep Guardiola continued, "You can't imagine an improvement from him (Liam Delap), from Romeo (Lavia), from Luc Mbete, from (James McAtee). Of course, Cole Palmer was already with us last season.

Manchester City boss has heaped special praise on 'Salford Silva' who recently signed a contract extension with his boyhood club until 2026.

"(James McAtee) played exceptionally. He was moving in the right places, every action he touched, the action got better. We have some of those", Pep Guardiola expressed after the game.

It is clear to see how much Pep Guardiola overestimates the talents of Manchester City's academy and there is no better manager in world football to develop young players than the man at the top of the Etihad Stadium.
