Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Elisabeth Moss and Sarah Snook were nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series at the 2022 SAG Awards with winner Hoyon Jung.
Hoeon Jung turned emotional after receiving the Best Actress award on Sunday night.
At the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards, Jung was awarded the Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series Award for her role in Squid Game.
She defeated Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon from The Morning Show, Elizabeth Moss from The Handmaid's Tale, and Sarah Snook from Succession.
During her acceptance speech, she got emotional while discussing how she had always dreamed of making it as an actor.
"First and foremost, thank you very much," she said through her translator. "I have seen you many times on the big screen dreaming of becoming an actor one day. I just want to say thank you very much."
Before wrapping up, Jung also expressed his gratitude to his co-stars for "opening the door" to making it in the industry. Then he gave his squid game crew a special shout-out.
In the series, Jung is a breakout star from Netflix's viral drama series, Squid Game. The gruesome series followed a group of Korean citizens who were trying to pay off their debts. In an effort to win a bigger cash prize, people participated in the Inhuman Squid Game, a play on a children's game with a violent ending.
For the unaware, the 27-year-old began her career on Korea's Next Top Model but is best known for her portrayal of Kang Sa-byok.
