The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were stripped of their honorary military appointments and royal patronage, including the Royal Marines, The Queen's Commonwealth Trust, The Rugby Football League and The National Theatre, following their royal exit. The patronage was returned to Queen Elizabeth II with the intention of redistributing it among members of the royal family.
Kate Middleton was named the new royal patron of the Rugby Football Union and Rugby Football League in February. However, there are rumors that Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and Princess Anne will take over some of the remaining charity.
