Report: Pelicans focus on Zion Williamson's 'long-term' health

NBA reporter Jared Greenberg reports that New Orleans is monitoring the healing of the fifth metatarsal in the right foot of forward Zion Williamson.

Greenberg said the team will "gradually progress to [Zion's] full-lifting exercises and basketball activities ... He is completely healthy and ready to go early next season."

The return of Zion would be great for the Pelicans, who once had an 18-32 record this season. Williamson averaged 27 PPG last season with New Orleans. His scoring and defensive abilities could boost the Pelicans' chances as the NBA postseason draws near.

The New Orleans lost in the second straight match against the Memphis Grizzlies 132–111. The Pelicans' record fell to 27–38, with the Los Angeles Lakers 1.5 games behind in the race for the play-in game.

Next up for the Pelicans will be the Orlando Magic.
