A clip from Jada Pinkett Smith's show 'The Red Table Talk' has resurfaced
Jada Pinkett Smith touches on having an affair with August Alsina, shedding light on the 'turning point' in marriage to Will Smith.
A clip from The Red Table Talk has resurfaced on social media after the infamous Oscar 2022 controversy, in which the King Richard actor can be seen sharing that Jada was unhappy with her husband's planned 40th birthday party .
Will said Jada called the preparations a "ridiculous display of her ego" amid the most difficult times in her marriage.
"I think the turning point in our relationship for me came when I turned 40," Jada said.
The Oscar-winning actor agreed, detailing how he spent three years giving Jada a touching surprise on her 40th birthday.
"The day after his 37th birthday, I hired a team to organize his 40th birthday," he said.
"I hired a documentary team, I traced mom's family roots. Her 40th birthday was about to be my thing!"
"It was going to be the thing that got her out of this mid-life crisis. It was going to be the deepest most beautiful declaration of my love."
However, Jada accused Smith of taking the opportunity to be about herself. "Crushed, right? And to this day I know I was crushed because it was true. It wasn't a party for him," agreed Smith.
In July 2020, Jada confirmed an affair with then-27-year-old Alsina in an episode of the same show.
The couple also talked about the time when Smith told Jada, "I was done with yo. I was done with you. Marriages happen though."
