ACLU executive 'accidentally' brands Amber Heard's op-ed 'an advertisement'

An accidental entry into ACLU executive brand Amber Heard's op-ed 'an ad'

American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) executive and COO Terrence Dougherty mistakenly called Amber Heard's op-ed an 'advert' on the stand.

He entered, speaking in his pre-recorded statement for the Fairfax, Virginia courtroom.

He was quoted as saying, "These are further communications between development department staff, staff members regarding the placement of Amber's ad and the finalization of the op-ed piece. Not an ad, I'm sorry."

The whole mess happened when the executive began calculating the time taken for the draft's creation, back-and-forth emails with one of his employees, and Ms. Heard's "shopping around" for publication.

The article was pitched with the question, "[We] were wondering if we'd be interested in a piece by Amber Heard (who, as you'll remember, was beaten up during her brief marriage to Johnny Depp) Maybe, what will happen in the coming times, Congress can help protect women in similar situations.”

Prior to the finale the executive also acknowledged that ALCU timed the pitch to coincide with the release of Aquaman and capitalized on its hype.
