Will Smith's 'Men in Black' role was first offered to 'Friends' star David Schwimmer

The lead role of 'Men in Black' was first offered to famous 1990s sitcom 'Friends' star David Schwimmer

Will Smith nearly lost his Men in Black role as David Schwimmer, the famous 1990s sitcom Friends star who was first offered the job.

The sitcom star who played Dr. Ross Geller in the series would have made his successful foray into Hollywood had he accepted the role of Agent J.

"It didn't even sound like an option," he told The Hollywood Reporter in 2016, referring to his prior commitment with the LookGlass company.

Schwimmer was then directing and starring in the 1998 TV film Since You've Been Gone.

Meanwhile, Smith's career has come to rock bottom after he slapped Chris Rock on stage at the Oscars 2022.

The Academy banned Smith from the event for the next 10 years following his altercation with a comedian who mocked Jada Pinkett Smith.
