Bad news for Queen Elizabeth as another country expresses desire to remove her as head of state

Antigua and Barbuda have expressed their intention to remove Queen Elizabeth as head of state.

ITV News royal editor Chris Ship said he asked Antigua and Barbuda Foreign Minister Chet Greene if his country wanted to become a republic.

"Finally" he replied. Chris Ship visited Rwanda with Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla.

Last year, Barbados stopped pledging allegiance to Queen Elizabeth II as it lost another relic of its colonial past and became a republic for the first time in history.

Many politicians, dignitaries and artists attended the ceremony, including Prince Charles and singer Rihanna.

Jamaica has also "formally begun" to secede from the British monarchy.

Marlene Malahoo Fort QC, a senior minister who leads the country's Ministry of Legal and Constitutional Affairs, told Kingston Parliament that the process would be completed in "phases" before the next election in 2025.
