
Idris Elba is in talks again to take on the iconic role of James Bond after Daniel Craig stepped down as the head of No Time to Die.
An insider told The Sun that The Harder They Fall star is ranked highly in "secret" market research conducted by filmmakers.
Following which, he was earlier in the news for playing the lead role after considering playing the antagonist in the film.
"Idris has long been in talks to play a role in the next era of the James Bond story and was being considered for a role as an antagonist last year," the source said.
"However, talks about playing the lead have resumed as the makers realized how popular he would be after conducting covert market research," the insider added.
The report also shared, "He ranked highly among the diverse group of film lovers invited to participate in it."
"They didn't want to see him as a nemesis - they want him as a hero," it added.
In January 2022, producer Barbara Broccoli said that the 49-year-old star was being considered to take over the role.
