Prince Charles has 'awkward smile' at Boris Johnson, keep 'distance': expert

Prince Charles and Boris Johnson meet at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting

The recent meeting of Prince Charles and Boris Johnson has been termed as a power show by body language experts.

Charles and Johnson, who met in the first official meeting at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) after the Future King termed the PM's Rwanda policy as 'horrendous', Johnson ensured he showed the Queen's "superior strength" .

Speaking about the meeting, body language expert Judy James said: "These two high-ranking men are standing here side by side as if the kids are told to play nicely, their arms down. And on top of them there is a pair of strange part-smiles of the face.

"The way Boris buttons his jacket and then apparently sucks in his stomach to inflate his chest may suggest superior strength or a desire to present a position of aggressive stimulation."

He said: "While shaking hands though it is Boris who is lowering his head in a submission gesture.

"The distance between the two men and the manner in which Charles' hand is exaggerated suggests that the heir to the throne wishes to keep his PM at as much distance as possible. Boris's eye Joining may be a silent plea for a ceasefire.

"In the first photo, Boris is shaping Charles with a frowned, smiling gaze as he waits on the sidelines.

"When Boris places his hands behind his back like this it usually suggests a desire to stay out of trouble."
