Queen thinks Buckingham Palace is strictly her office
The former royal chef says the Queen has a special place in her heart for Windsor Palace.
Speaking to Coffee Friends in a recent chat session, Chef Darren McGrady admitted that the Queen likes her Windsor residence more than her London home.
McGrady said: "It is no surprise that the Queen has moved to Windsor, she has never really liked the palace, it has always been the office of the Queen.
"The Queen is always coming back to Windsor Castle, she can't wait to go back there. She loves it there, so it's no wonder she's moved there permanently.
"There will always be a senior chef, a junior chef, and about 30 employees who will go to Windsor for the weekend. We worked in the small kitchen, it's very different, a lot more relaxed."
Explaining the reason the Queen liked Windsor, the chef said: "The Queen can go out, walk the dogs, go outside and watch the horses in the back garden. For the Queen, it is always the dogs first. And there are horses.
"It's his passion, that's what his hobbies are. And why shouldn't he enjoy it at the age of 96. Let Charles and William take on some other engagements, he should be spending time with horses and dogs every day right now."
"His family is also in Windsor."
