European Parliament to host 'Afghan Women's Day'


 Kabul: The European Parliament says it is going to host a series of events on February 1 and 2 to discuss the situation of Afghan women following political changes in the country.

The EU said in a press release that 'Afghan Women's Day' will begin with a high-level conference that will include members of the EU Parliament, prominent Afghan women who were finalists for the parliament's 2021 Shakarov Prize, as well as activists Will be Representatives of the United Nations and representatives of many other international organizations. The European Union said the situation of Afghan women since the fall of the previous government was worrying.

At the conference, Speaker of Parliament Roberta Metsola, former Afghan Minister of Women's Affairs Sima Samar, Angelina Jolie, Special Envoy from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR - Recorded Message), EU Commission President Ursula von der Intervention Layen (Recorded Message TBC) and UN Deputy Secretary General Amina Mohamed (Recorded Message). It culminated with a speech and musical appearance by Afghan singer and songwriter Aryna Saeed with her song "Lady of the Land of Fire" will be done, the press release read.

The Islamic Emirate said it supports talks that are productive. “The Islamic Emirate welcomes negotiations that are constructive and not challenging.
