Elisabeth Moss in 'The Power of the Dog' on 'Why She Passes On Character': Read

Elisabeth Moss applauds Kirsten Dunst for justifying Rose Gordon's role in the film

Elisabeth Moss has opened up about missing a role in The Power of the Dog featuring, which most recently went to Kirsten Dunst.

The Western drama starring Jane Campion won multiple awards at all the major award shows this year.

Addressing all this in a recent interview with Empire via ET Canada, Moss explained that it was "hard for her" to leave the character of Rose Gordon.

The Handmaid's Tale actress said that she is keen to do the much-acclaimed feature.

"I really wanted to do it," she said.

For this reason, the 39-year-old had several discussions with the director, but unfortunately, he had to take the role due to "unforeseen circumstances".

The actress, however, expressed regret for the missed opportunity and said that she was 'absolutely understanding' of the situation.

"Campion and I have been very kind to each other in that process, knowing that sometimes these things don't work out and it's really nobody's fault," she admitted.

Before the finale, Moss also praised Dunst, saying she was a perfect choice for the role in the film.

"I was really happy that Kirsten was doing this because I respect her so much as an actress," she mentioned.

At the same time, however, the actress expressed her desire to collaborate with Campion on a future project.
