Musk's lawyer Alex Spiro references Eminem's 2002 song 'Without Me'
Elon Musk's attorney Alex Spiro has referenced the lyrics of a hit song by legendary rapper Eminem, who is filing in court in a legal battle against the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Musk is hoping to regain full control of his Twitter account after the SEC implements a 'consent decree' that requires him to seek legal approval regarding Tesla.
In an effort to end its 2018 settlement with the top US securities regulator, Tesla, Inc. The co-founder was required to obtain pre-approval for his tweet, with Musk's lawyer Alex Spiro referencing the 2002 song "Without Me".
"(SEC) won't let me be or won't let me be so let me see; they tried to shut me down," he said.
The rapper, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, wrote, "The FCC won't let me be or let me be, so let me watch / They tried to shut me up on MTV."
The FCC banned Eminem's 2000 song "The Real Slim Shady;" A Colorado radio station was tried to be fined for running it. The FCC eventually bowed.

Musk's lawyer reportedly noted that "the First Amendment requires that agencies proceed with caution when constitutional rights are at stake, not seek to advance any and all novel principles that imply individual broaden their authority at the cost of freedom."
