Prince Harry will get 'adequate' security in Netherlands: Former head of royal security

Adequate security is expected for Prince Harry's visit to Netherlands

Prince Harry's upcoming visit to the Netherlands for the Invictus Games is expected to have adequate security measures in place, according to the former head of royal security.

Dai Davies, the former head of Royal Protection at Scotland Yard, has said that Prince Harry's security will be looked after by his own security team and he is also expected to receive VIP status protection by Dutch authorities, The Independent reported.

According to Davies: "The truth is I have no doubt that he will be protected, whether he takes his team or the Dutch authorities give him some sort of VIP status."

He added: "The truth is, if there is a risk, both countries - ours and the Netherlands - have sophisticated systems of determining risk. This country has determined that it is no longer at risk."

It may or may not be true, but people of far better ability than me can make this decision and they never take it lightly."

Davies also highlighted whether Dutch police would be involved in Harry's security, saying: "It depends on the risk assessment."

Davis shared, "The Ministry of Defense is involved in the care of the royals in the Netherlands, and while there is a royal security squad, it is not as large or experienced as the UK squad."

He added: "But they are very capable people, Dutch, and I am sure they will do their best."

Harry, who will visit The Hague with wife Meghan Markle from April 16 to April 22 for the Invictus Games, previously expressed security concerns in the UK and refused to go to his grandfather Prince Philip's memorial in March.
