Ethan Hawke explains why he's going to retire from acting
Ethan Hawke recently revealed that he plans to step down from his acting career.
According to the Independent, Ethan has an illustrious career spanning more than 30 years in the entertainment industry, including his breakthrough roles in 1989's Dead Poets Society and the Before Sunrise trilogy.
Speaking to IndieWire, the Getaway star said that he may soon be bidding goodbye to his acting career as he has declared himself to be an old young man instead of "a young old man".
"It's more of a staple for me. I feel like the role of John Brown in The Good Lord Bird was for me: the start of my 'old man' career, the beginning of my last acting," commented the Great Expectations actor.
He continued, "But that's the beginning of it, you know? I'm definitely looking at a filmography myself and wondering what things I could have cut, because I only have so much time left. I know I have only so many films left."
Ethan explained, "When I was younger, I was like, 'I'll do this, I'll do that, it'll be a great learning experience, and then I'll try this,' thinking I had all the time in the world. "
"Now, I'm like, 'I didn't learn from that one or anything, and he'll be better with my family in three months,'" he said.
Meanwhile, the actor opened up about the success of his daughter Maya Hawke on the Netflix hit Stranger Things.
